For all its old-school pixel art, Ion Maiden uses the achievements of modern technology, thanks to which the game embodies much larger levels, uses hundreds of new colors, and also has the ability to transform levels right in the middle of the passage.
The game follows Shelley "Bombshell" Harrison, who earned her nickname as the Global Defense Force's bomb disposal expert. But when Jadus Heskel, the leader of a transhumanist cult, unleashes his cybernetic army into battle, Shelley changes her attitude towards bombs and begins to use them against a new enemy.
Shelley's path will be littered with dead bodies and drenched in blood as she makes her way through challenging levels with alternate routes, filled with secrets and Easter eggs for fans of the genre to enjoy.
