Kill la Kill (Japanese: キルラキル Kiru ra Kiru, Russian: “Kill or Die”) is an anime series and manga in the seinen genre, illustrated by Ryo Akizuki. Kill la Kill is Trigger's first in-house original anime project, directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi and written by Kazuki Nakashima, with whom they previously worked on Gurren Lagann.
Ryuko Matoi is a girl who travels with a giant scissor half as a weapon, similar to a scarlet sword, in order to find the owner of the other half of the scissors, the man who killed her father, Isshin Matoi. Ryuko enters Honnouji Academy (Japanese: Honnoji Gakuen), a high school that lives and exists in fear. This academy is located in Tokyo Bay, in post-apocalyptic Japan. This school is ruled by a student council led by President Satsuki Kiryuin. These people have an unusual uniform, which is known as the "Goku uniform" (Japanese gokuseifuku, lit.
