A hand-drawn two-dimensional world, permeated with an atmosphere of universal horror.
Enemies, settings and storylines inspired by the iconic works of Lovecraft. You will take part in tasks based on your favorite stories, but you yourself will determine the course of events.
There are 8 main character archetypes to choose from, each with their own backstory and skill set.
On this ill-fated journey you will be accompanied by a variety of wonderful companions: a lonely antediluvian Stranger; a fallen soldier in the Great War who was resuscitated by Herbert West. You can accept these and other strange creatures into your squad.
Your character's mental state affects the choice of dialogue lines. Mental illness can be both a hindrance and a help to you. In a world gone crazy, sometimes it's easier to be crazy.
The Belief System determines how your characters cope with the distorted reality of the new Arkham, as well as the rate at which their Psychic Score is replenished. The belief system also opens up unique dialogue threads, expanding the possibilities for role-playing.
An original spell system where you sometimes lose more than you gain. An expert in the occult sciences does not mean one who knows how to emit multi-colored projectiles from his fingertips. Black magic in Stygian is powerful, but it can take a toll on your mind, your health, and possibly much more.
Turn-based tactical combat in a 2D perspective, similar to that of the classic Heroes of Might and Magic games.
In Stygian, you don't have to fight to save the world, because that fight has already been lost. Before the end of the world comes, you must achieve your goal, be it saving a soul, a vendetta, or something darker.
